I've had my 1985 Catalina 27 for about six years. She is equiped with eveything I wanted..well allmost. Among the things I wanted on baoard was a shower. The shower is there, but it is cold water and it drains into the bilge. So, I'm looking for info on installing a hot water heater and modifying the drain to keep the gray water out of the bilge. I would like to here from others who have tackeled this modification.

Hot water heater

Hi John - My C36 has a Seward manufactured hot water heater that works well. I don't know what the best was is to plumb it on the C30, but I'll bet someone else here has a pretty good idea. You can create a shower sump with any old box, as long as it has a removeable seal (to clean out the hair and related gunk). Put a float switch and bilge pump in there and route it overboard. It's definitely a good idea to keep the shower sump separate from your bilge to prevent funk getting in there. Best of luck, Trevor
