The water heater in the boat has sprung a leak. Now I have to remove same. The heater is installed under the quarter berth immediately forward of the fuel tank. Any suggestions on how to get the heater out without cutting????

Collapse the mounting bracket

You have to collapse the wooden mounting bracket under the water heater(A hammer and a long , fat screw driver) That should give you enough room to pull it out. If memory serves, I built and installed the new bracket(1/2" plywood) before putting the new WH in, I just made it wide enough to accept the WH mounting screws. I use construction advesive(PL-400) to secure it to the hull. Good Luck Hull #4803

Patience No Cutting needed

No cutting is needed with the OEM heater. You may have to jog around the wire bundle, and mess with the poly flow inlet and discharge hoses. Also access the engine coolant hoses from the galley drawers. Just slide the heater to Starboard and pivot it a bit once you get by the fuel tank. When I replaced the heater, I installed a bypass from WM as mine had failed due to freezeing. I used an identical replacement unit which also fit but without any clearance.
