One of my good buddies is a "go fast" boat guy and we argue on a lot of sailboat vs. power boat issues. He says that all hot chicks are always on power boats and that sailboats are always crewed by women who are sporting an 20 extra pounds. Help me out here. Send in a photo of your babe on a sailboat.

Funny thought ... I regularly sail with several female crew (my wife and her friends). I end up with "Traveler Wenches" whose job it is to sit in the back of the cockpit, look good, and control the traveler on tacks ... Last year they wants T-Shirts printed with "Starboard Traveler Wench" and "Port Traveler Wench" ... The power boat guys just stare ... on cue, the wenches say something like, "Too bad that's a stink-pot" ... gotta love it.

Tell him not be intimidated.....

Just tell him "It's not the length of the mast, but how much sail you can hang on it." while trying to keep a straight face. Besides anyone who chooses their crew based on a bikini contest is a bit shallow and insecure, no? .-=gp=-.

boat chick

Sadly this was taken during our departure from the Bahamas. The smile was due to the calm seas!

Just another stereotype

Sure, there are plenty of "hot chicks" on stinkpots, and plenty of athletically built mamas on sailboats. But the reverse is every bit as true. Consider these two "bow bunnies" -- my 17-year-old daughter Emily (on the left) and her best friend Megan, doing their part to improve the scenery during this past summer's Long Island Sound aboard our O'Day 322. It's a tough job, but they volunteered for it just the same. Gotta love 'em. Pete s/v EmmieLou (ODay 322) Little Silver, NJ

Perfect 1st mate and best friend

She goes everywhere I go. She loves to sail and especially race. Very competitve and very hot. Any time I want some new stuff or a new boat she simply agrees. Bonus: Loves football, skiing, mtn biking, scuba diving and cooking. In fact I have not yet found an activity she won't try. Photo from our Abacos cruise last spring. Tim R.

Boat shows illustrate the difference

I don't know about that "extra 20 lbs." observation, but I do find it true that there seem to be more young women in bikinis on powerboats than on sailboats. Manufacturers seem to know their target markets. I remember at one New York Boat (indoor) show years ago, the power boats had all of these fabulous babes in bikinis strutting around, beckoning you aboard. The sailboats had their share of very attractive sailswomen as well; however, instead of bikinis, they looked like they had stepped out of the LL Bean catalogue. Take a look at the ads for powerboats: most are shown with at least one fabulous looking bikini-clad model with her hair flowing in the wind. Sailboat ads? Not a chance.

Stinkboats..also called "Phallic 30's"

My wife and her friends always get a kick out of the old, fat guys that seem to be with the younger, in tiny bikini younger gals. they'll often say, "look out, here comes another Phallic 30" no matter what the size...of boat, that is!

Sorry, too cold for swimwear. I’m also sorry that she might be easy on the eyes. I try to have only unattractive women as crew, but everyone deserves a chance. She actually turned out to be an energetic crewmember when she wasn't posing.

just silly

It is just silly that someone could even think that women who sail tend to be overweight. My baby is perfect for her body style!!! I don't have a picture of "my girl" Shamoo because she spends most of her time in the water and I don't have a waterproof camera. I will try to get a snapshot next time she breaches. Whata gal!!!!

Go broke fast!

To win your arguement, money saved from not buying fuel can be spent other ways, here I converted my savings to a Las Vegas style good time.

Brain matter ...

must account for the extra weight. Powerboat Babes are little light in that department. ;)

WE know we have a good thing

I'm sure you guys will all agree.. nothing is sexier than a woman who can handle a sailboat as well or better than us guys can! All these go-fast guys have is just "eye candy" Nothing beats 6 hours at sail with our sweeties and a bottle of wine. Shhh.. don't let those other clowns in on our secret!! As they say down in the BVI: "SAIL FAST...LOVE SLOW"
