Hiee,
I spent Saturday and Sunday on the boat. It was to calm to do anything Saturday so I just lounged around lol. Sunday after getting breakfast and cleaning up the sun finally broke thru. My surf forcast for Martinique beach showed 0.4 meter seas and wind in the 15 knot range so I dedided to motor out. You have to be out about 3/4 of the way before you can actually see the mouth of the inlet. Low and behold it was a solid bank of fog :cussing:so that ended that idea. The tide was on the out on the way back in. The outboard was in the up position which allows me to idle around at about 2 knots or so and not have to hassle with getting it lifted to sail. This did not work out well as there is a very narrow spot in the inlet which I call the 'cut'. This is the first time I have motored in against the tide thru there. It was no fun as the tide was running at about 2 knots or slightly better and I was making little and at time reverse headway
not to mention having to deal with the eddy currents tossing the bow from one side to the other. I finally got thru ( about 1/2 nautical mile ) after fighting it for nearly an hour. Lesson learned lower the outboard or wait for the incoming tide
.
Here is a picture of the sunset Saturday night.
