For preventive maintenance and at the recommendation of a surveyor, I am going to replace most of the critical hoses on my vessel. I know what kind I will use for fuel and sanitation, but I'm a little vague on some of the others. Can anyone recommend specific brand and type of hose to use for the raw water intake to the engine and to the saltwater pump at the sink and deck wash down. Also for the sink drains and scupper drains.

Here is a link to what I used, multilayered reinforced. Great for engine intake and scuppers and drains. For a bilge hose that drains above the waterline, you can use just about anything, but I would use smooth rather than ribbed. The ribs increase resistance to flow.

I'll be using Trident for the sanitation hoses as well, so I think I'll just follow their recommendations and stick with them throughout.

Trident an excellent choice!

Use 101 or 102 sanitation hoses, except for tank vent and head intake lines. For those use #148...but do NOT use #148 for head or tank discharge!

Peggie, why the choice of 148 for the intake and vent lines? Based on the Trident web site, I was going to use 100 for all of my salt water lines. I hadn't thought about the vent line, yet.

Because...

101/102 is only available in 1.5" and 1"...head intakes are 3/4" and standard vent lines are 5/8". Even if your vent is 1" or 1.5", I don't think you need to spend the money for 101 for a vent line.

So...use 101/102 for any 1" or 1.2" that carry waste...148 will do for salt water or air.
