Hoses and antifreeze

Hi new user here. I recently purchased my first boat with a head on it. Researched many past posts and found them super helpful. Removed the old WC toilet and plumbing lines and am replacing with the Raritan Superflush and Saniflex hose. Thinking intake will be shields or trident 148. Both hose specs appear to state no antifreeze though... per Miss Peggy's winterizing instructions antifreeze gets pumped through the system into the holding tank as the procedure. Will this compromise the hoses or is there a better choice of hose if winterizing will happen? Thanks!

there are different kinds of anti-freeze...maybe the hoses cant handle the more toxic Ethylene Glycol found in automobile antifreeze. “The pink stuff” typically used as antifreeze in water systems is less toxic (And maybe less hard on hoses).

Hopefully Peggy will weigh in with some specifics...she is the expert.

But EVERYBODY in cold climates have to winterize their toilets. So some type of antifreeze is required.

When the head and hoses are winterized, Propylene glycol (pink antifreeze) is pumped through the head and into the holding tank. The operative word is through. Pump the head enough times to force all of the antifreeze into the holding tank, do not leave the hoses full of antifreeze. Over time, propylene glycol makes a very nice repast for various microbes, all of which are olfactory offensive.
