My Horizon DS10 depth sounder's numbers on the display are fading although it still works and the alarm still functions. It there a compatable head unit i can replace it with since the transducer works fine. I'd hate to have to patch a four inch hole if I can replace the head unit.

You might want to check to make sure there is not a voltage drop and the sounder's head.

Voltage at the unit is good, I think the leds have finally decided to quit. I'm looking for a compatable head unit to replace it with.

On our depth read out, the led's appear grey because of wear to the plastic window over the led read-out. I know that polishing the plastic will cure the problem. In the meantime, a little sunscreen lotion will clear the view one day at a time.

I had the same fading problem. The cure is not to clean the power plugs. I replaced mine BiData to a Tridata. I used the very same transducers - depth and knot meter. On the wire that connects to the transducers near the connection to the LCD display there is white paper lable that indicates its specs. Write that down when ordering a a new LCD display.
