Hood Sea Furl Ld Removal

I need to remove my hood sea furl ld furling gear so the yard can get at the standing rigging to take my mast off to inspect a leaky mast step. Any advice on how this is taken off the forestay would be greatfully appreciated. Thanks.

Easy Removal

I have the Hood 810, but I assume it is similar. After removing the sail, there should be a bolt with an allan key head. Remove this. This will loosen one of two sleeves that keep the foil from sliding down into the cylinder of the furler. Pull these two sleeves, doing the one with the bolt first, lifting the foil as you work. An extra set of hands is needed. Once the sleeves are removed the foil will slide down, then the furler and foil can be hoisted to expose the turnbuckle underneath. Good luck Ed
