My upgraded Hood 800 SL roller furling does not furl or unfurl easily.I repeatedly have to turn the drum manually to get it started or to unfurl. After the first three or four drum turns it seems to work Ok though. I checked the exploded drawings against my set up and it seems to be OK in that regard, except that on my 35.5 the snap shackle attached to the stem fitting below the deck which holds the drum mechanism from sliding around moves horizontally a bit. I guess this is a 35.5 anomaly as other owners have remarked the same.I've been told the furler line is a critical piece of the equation, as the drum is relatively small and ordinary line "alledgedly" jams up or overrides making furling or unfurling problematic. My rigger says the furling line should be "decored" so it is more of a ribbon than round, enabling it to lay flat in the drum and not bind. Has anyone had a similar experience on a 35.5 with a 800 SL system? Any suggestions or commentswould be appreciated.Fred Miller S/V M Squared
