Honda BF8 Impeller

By chance, does anyone know where the water pump is located on a Honda BF8 outboard? If it helps it is a '98. I tried googling the info but could not find anything. The manual I downloaded from Honda also does not show the location. I'd like to replace it this winter. Also, is it safe to assume a diy'er can change the impeller without much difficulty? Thanks in advance, Manny

If It Is The Same as the BF15

It is on the top after you drop the foot. The only tricky part is the gearshift rod. It unscrews and you must keep track of how many turns so that it goes back into the right place and will shift into reverse and forward. If you are handy at all it is definitly somthing you can do. We were unable to find a manual for the model we were working on but it was very much like all the other ones I had done and we had no problem doing it without the manual.

Honda Impeller Replacement

Manny, If you drop the leg section above the bottom end and then separate the two you don't have to remove the threaded top cap- much easier and a lot faster.

Thank guys

Sounds like it shouldn't be to difficult. I'm going to order the part from my local Honda dealer and hopefully they'll let me take a look at an exploded diagram. That should help a little also. Manny

Sounds like it shouldn't be to difficult. I'm going to order the part from my local Honda dealer and hopefully they'll let me take a look at an exploded diagram. That should help a little also. Manny
