Does anyone have a Honda 8HP 4 Stroke? If so, how do you like it?

I like mine

I have the Honda 4 stroke 8hp and like it a lot. It starts on the first pull, is quiet and has power to get us back against strong winds and currents. Only thing I wish is that it would be lighter but 4 strokes just weigh more than 2 strokes. We bought the double spring engine mount from Catalina Direct and that helped a lot .

You can do better

Chris: A friend of ours let us borrow her 5 HP Honda motor about last summer, while ours was being repaired. I couldn't understand why she wasn't using it, since it appeared to be a much better motor than her 20 year old Evenrude. I always figured that I would buy a Honda if we ever had a serious problem with our motor. After using hers for a month I knew why she wasn't using it. It was really heavy, and it had a tendency to pull your arm off, if it misfired while starting. It didn't use much gas, which helps make up for its heavy weight, but it is just a shame when you look at all of the other fine things that Honda makes, that they can't make small lightweight boat motors. I'm sure you will get a few responses on the Nissan 4 stroke motors, which is what I would look at if I was shopping for a new motor. Aldo
