It was a great 4th of July weekend on Narraganset Bay until Sunday morning. Woke up at 6:30 and saw a clear blue sky, went back to sleep until 7:30 and woke to a thick layer of haze, a check with NOAA and it turned out to be smoke from fires in Canada and it extended to Washington DC! A surreal day on the bay, no wind and a haze that had a definitive smoky smell. While the day didn't involve raising the sails for our trip back to Wickford from Potter Cove it is a day we will never forget. I could almost real the voice of Rod Serling describing our journey into "THE TWILIGHT ZONE" Russell S/V Allie Kat

Chesapeake Too

Same here on the upper Chesapeake Bay. Very smoky.

same on Lake Ontario

It was strange seeing a round orange/pink ball in the sky at the western end of Lake Ontario. There was no smell of smoke, but the haze was weird.

Smoke in North Carolina Too

The Canadian smoke made it all the way down here to the coast of North Carolina.
