Hollow keel fairing sending stinky water into basin under cabin sole

Its a 1997 hunter 376. I have stink water coming up into the glassed in basin located under the cabin sole floor panel just aft of the bilge and forward of the engine thru hull panel. Frequently when we boarded after an absence there would be stinky water pooling in the basin under that floor board. I used a hand pump to remove. There is a glassed hole at the bottom that doesn’t connect to the bilge.

I’ve since discovered that the aft portion of the keel is a hollow fairing and grinding out a weep hole in the keel in that location that the same stinky water was coming out. Back up in the cabin, stuck a coat hanger down the hole and, yep, its deep enough to go into the keel and the wire came up with the same stink water. Conclusion, the hollow keel vents up under the cabin sole. You ever have this issue?

Appreciate your thoughts. Plug the hole and leave the water? Find a way to drain/pump out? Live with it?

Solution: Dremeled the hole out a little and placed a 7/8 bailer plug for a tight fit. Simple is good.

I hope you emptied the water in the keel, before you plugged the hole.

Thanks. Its a long way down, but did the best that I could. Some hunters had weep holes in the keel. I don't have that. Nice thing about the plug is that I can remove and pump out more if needed, but at least its not wafting into the cabin.
