Holes on the bottom of hull

We have recently purchased a 1987 c-22. On the bottom of the hull, forward of the keel are three holes. One smaller one, approx 1 1/2" in diameter. It has a plastic rim and extends past the hull approx 1/4". Is there to be a plug for this? If so, what is it called?The other two holes are forward of the first, equal distance apart of the center line. Approx 3 1/2" in diameter. The appears to be some deterioration to the one as I can observe a slot in the center and material of some type is coming out.Can someone help me understand what it is I am trying to describe and what should my course of action be?Thanks for your help.....

Holes?

The two holes of equal dist. from the center line might be where the depth sounder and the speed indicator are supossed to be. The other one - not sure maybe the bidge discharge (I don't use mine since I sail in waters where you can't dump.Does that sound closer to what you are looking for?

Ask the guy

who sold it to you. They might be handy for installing a speedo, or a depth sounder, but I would be inclined to fill them and glass them over. Hate holes in the bottom of a boat.

my two sensor are located there . one is for depth and the other is speed . The previous owner could have been trying to be cheap and steal the electronic equipment for his next boat. look for the gauges to have been taken also.goood luck

Unwanted Holes

If you ascertain that they are of no use (as for the sink or cockpit drains--mine on a 1975 C22 drain into the swing keel trunk area), I'd fill them with a good marine epoxy well before launching. Dick
