Holes in Keel

I have these troubling holes in my keel, discovered after sanding out a crack along the base. Marina is tightening bolts and filling these holes. How much will this affect the boats speed? What should be the next thing to look for? Any suggestions? Advice, thank you.

Once the holes are ground out and filled properly, and then faired to the rest of the keel, there will be no difference in speed.

Good to hear...cause a hole in the keel is scary stuff.

That probably happened during layup of the fiberglass. So you have been living with that defect since the boat was new. Once filled, it will be better than new.....

Thanks, that layup was 30 years ago...better than new sounds great. I will continue to treat her like a lady and hopefully she will continue to bring me home safe.

Those polyestermites are voracious eaters. Be sure to call an exterminator and use the special bottom paint to repel them!
