I have a 1977 Cat 27 dinette layout that came originally with a pump out head. Previous owners removed it and installed a porta-pottie. Based on space and design layout, I would like to reinstall the head and setup a holding tank for dockside pumpout. What or where is the best location to place a holding tank? My sailing is done in the Chesapaeke Bay. Thanks, Jim

Best location for the tank is the bow--BUT...

That doesn't work if the head is in the aft end of the cabin...the hose from the head from the tank would be too long. So my first question is--where IS the head in your boat? Spec'ing out your specific system will prob'ly go into more detail than is practical here...but I'll be glad to help you to do it if you'd like to either e-mail me at peghall@bellsouth.net....or call me on Monday at 770-512-0075

Head location

The head on a 1977 Cat27 is located forward on the starboard side just before the V-berth.

In that case, the best location for your tank....

...Is under your v-berth.
