Someone put a paper towel down the head. The holding tank is clogged. I cannot empty the tank. I ran a hose into the in port & air vent. Water comes out those 2 openings but not the discharge. Any ideas how to solve this problem? Thanks, tom walsh

Hose up the over board discharge line too.
Tom: Have you thought about running the hose into the overboard discharge line? You probably have a vented loop. The towel may be caught in it. You may be able to disconnect the side from the tank/toilet and you may find the towel there. I think that this happened to us several years ago.

Uh-oh...fixable, but you're not gonna like it...
First, you need access to the top of the tank. Then, if there isn't one, you'll need to retrofit an inspection port (kits available from SeaLand-- 800-321-9886 --for plastic tanks)...that will allow you access to the inside of the tank. It can be pumped out through the access port...THEN you can remove the clog from the discharge fitting. You MIGHT be able to blast enough water down the pumpout hose through the deck fitting to dislodge the paper towel and pump out the tank, but it's likely to be a "pump a little, blast it loose again, pump a little more, blast again" exercise...and you'll still have to get into the tank to get the paper towel out. There isn't anything that'll dissolve it in less than 6 months. Told ya you wouldn't like the answer.

A clog in the vented loop wouldn't prevent..
the tank from being pumped out...a clog ANYwhere in the head discharge would only would cause the head to back up.

I don't think so...
For one thing, the tank is full, so it would be too diluted. But I don't think it'll even work full strength. You can find out, though...put a paper towel in a bowlful of it at home and see what happens.

The "Y" valve
I had a similiar prob and as i disconnected the y valve the obstruction was hung up on the diverter. good luck
