I am the proud new owner of a 2003 Beneteau 423. It is the 2 cabin/2 head layout. The holding tanks are 11 gallons each but have no gauges nor can I get access to view the tanks to check on how full they are. How do other Beneteau owners monitor the status of your holding tanks?

Not sure what Bene offers, but you can add a SCAD system that will monitor both. They have options for metal or plastic tanks.
Thanks for the info. Might be a manageable solution. Going to have to do some research on access to tanks but it appears to be quite simple to install.

I installed their solo system for my single tank. Had to use the internal sensor since my tank is metal. The outside foil sensor for plastics tanks is much easier to mount. With the Profile Monitoring system you can add your fuel and water tanks. If you have a subscription, Practical Sailor evaluated the system.
I'm assuming tanks are plastic but need to research. This would also be helpful for water tanks. Fuel is all set. Yes i have a subscription to Practical Sailor and a library of issues. Will look for that issue.

Fwiw, the SCAD monitors are their private label version of the Profile tank monitors, made by Ferriello Sales Profile Tank Monitors You can buy directly from them for a much lower price and get the same tech support that SCAD offers. The "solo" system is a single tank monitor...there's also one that can monitor up to 8 tanks on the same system.

I have a 423 2 cabin 2 head model as well.... 2005. First off my tanks are double that at 20+ gallons each. They are easily accessed via the panel behind /next to the toilet. Remove screws panel comes off. Aft head panel comes off easily however forward head is a bear. A bit of a puzzle however is doable and not so bad. I actually modified my forward access panel to make it easier. I too am going to get tank monitors and the suggested ones sound great. Thanks Peggie! I replumbed my forward tank...... lots of hoses and thru hulls. One day I’m going to switch things up to simplify, but too many more pressing items to deal with now. Tanks are nice looking with good access cleaning ports. But these access ports can be a problem of waste goes too high in take..... may leak. I am going to put some pipe dope along them to help seal.....

Not a good idea. There should be a rubber gasket under the flange and an o-ring on the threaded cap. As long as they're both still in good condition, no leaks. If they haven't been replaced in at least 5 years, they prob'ly should be, because rubber dries out with age and cracks...and can leak. Your inspection ports are most likely Beckson, but even if they aren't, you can get replacement gaskets and o-rings from 'em.

I've used Maretron's TLM 100 ultrasonic tank monitor on my current and previous boat for water, diesel, and waste tank levels. Makes it nice to have it on the NMEA 2000 network so I can display it in a more convenient place in the cabin, and have alarms at multiple places.
I as not saying to seal as in close off......love the access. just added protection against leakage as they are on the side of the tank with good space above... put the dope in the threads. rubber o ring is supple and in good condiction. These are molded into the tank.
Gaskets and o-rings don't close up the port, they only prevent leakage. I don't think I've ever seen one on the side of a tank before...I wonder if your tank was made to be oriented differently...that maybe a PO had to turn it on its side to make it fit.
Yea, but wow, they are expensive! I would need four, $900!
Maybe I will consider just one, for the waste tank. It's nearly impossible to get to any part of it but the top. Was this easy to install and calibrate? On what display do you view the output?
