'77 hunter 27 holding tank installation
Hi john, I put a holding tank in my 27 back in the late 1980's, so don't remember all the steps but maybe this will help. I put the tank under the v-berth. I measured inside that hole and chose a tank from a catalog at my marina. Don't remember the exact dimensions, but it was about 12 gallons. Be sure to select a tank with holes all on one side (aft) so you can set your hoses. I had to cut a hole larger than the access door and used hole saws to cut out for the hoses. Ran the hose from the head too tank inside the area behind with a 'y' valve to go to tank or sea. Put a 't' on the thru hull for the tank dump hose and sea dump hose. You could avoid the 'y' valve and 't' by always flushing into the tank, then emptying the tank. Ran the pumpout hose forward of the bulkhead, inside the V berth, through the deck. There was not enough room for a macerator pump, so tank dumps by gravity. It never fully empties but most (10 gal)will dump. It's a tussle getting the hoses connected on the thru-hull. Sold the '27 in '94 and bought a H31, so this all from memory. Hope it helps.
