I am planning to replace my waste holding tank at the end of the season. Has anyone attempted this is a '92 30T? Mine is located in the lower level of the Port locker in the cockpit. Access is not good. It is an aluminum tank, 15 gals , I believe. Is it screwed down on both sides? If so, one side is under the laminate deck boards and impossible to get to. If so, the old tank needs to be cut out. I have located a replacement made by Ronco that I think will fit.

Been there - etc.

Roy Mosler from CA has been a tremendous help to me and all 30 T owners who have attempted this replacement. He has sent complete instructions to a number of us who have done it. Ronco has a tank that is a good replacement. I hope he sees this posting and will respond to you. If not, let me know and I will try to find his instructions to send you. You will have to go through the aft bulkhead of your aft cabin to access the screws on the hold down of the aluminum tank. He has the measurements from the center joint of the bulkheads and you can rely on his measurements. All you have to do is follow those and use the cut-out piece with some teak trim and it will look like it's supposed to be that way. You will have to take out the battery deck and the boards under that which hold the battery deck to remove the old tank. It is close quarters down there, but if you have a teen ager to help, it will be fairly easy. Your idea of doing it at the end of your season is a good one since it will be somewhat cooler then. While you are at it, you should replace all your sanitary hose with new odor resistant hose. At the risk of violating the forums rules you can reach me at plneel@aol.com.

Not to hijack this thread but........

I have a 89' G model and my holding tank is in the cabinate next to the head. Has anyone replaced this one and if so, what is the best way to get the tank out. Thanks, Tim

I did it

3 years ago I replaced my holding tank on my '92 30T Hunter. I got most of the info and encouragement from Roy Mosteler. Yes the old tank has flanges- you don't need to cut tank apart if you have a flex extension, phillips bits and an electric screwdriver and a lot of patience and determination to get the screws out. My tank had a hole I could stick my finger through... imagine an aluminum tank to hold that salty piss, etc etc. go figure. If you can't get ahold of Roy look me up in this sites' directory. Regards, Bob Schmit

Custom Tank

I replaced mine with a custom tank - net capacity 22 gallons. Let me know if you would like more info and I will try to dig up my records. I also installed an electic head and we love it.

Art, We own a 1990 T and changed the tank this year. With all of the info from Roy it was very easy. I have scanned all the info and could email this if you would like. If interested send email address and I will send it along. Fair winds, Ken Y.
