1980 27' My hoses are odor permeated and my boat stinks... The holding tank is too small for a long weekend @ 6 gallons so I'm ready for a renovation. So where is your holding tank located on your 27? I currently have a Par MiniTank located under the starboard settee just forward of the galley cabinet. The seacocks are right smack dab in the middle of this locker preventing the placement of a larger tank under the setee unless I were to use a flexible one. All of the hoses are coming out and getting replaced so now would be as good a time as any for a refit and upgrade for increased tankage. If you are happy with the solution on your 27' let me know what you are using and where you've located it... Thanks! Bob

Under the V berth

After researching on the Head Mistress forum two years ago, we placed our holding tank on our '80 Hunter 27 beneath the V berth -- in the area between the water tank and the head. It is mounted very close to the boat's centerline. This required cutting an access panel under the V berth cushions, installing some 1 x 3 wood strips around the edge to hold the access panel, and drilling a thumb-hole in the access panel so it could easily be removed. The tank is about 22 gallons as I recall -- purchased from Peggy Hall -- and is mounted to the foreward bulkhead and plywood deck below the V berth with stainless straps and wood blocks. The vent through-hull was mounted at the bow on the port side. You have to remove the panel just below the anchor locker to get access. The pump-out fitting was mounted in the deck just above the hanging locker in the head. Drilling and sawing through the fiber glass is very dusty -- use a saw with a vacuum attachment and wear dust protection. Jon Zaimes "Airwaves" on the Choptank River

Starboard Settee

I have a 1980 H27 and the holding tank is at least 12 gallons. It is located forward under the starboard settee. My through-hull is at the extreme aft part of the settee, near the galley. Any though of using a whole cutter and putting in a new through hull and just sealing off the old one?
