Peggy, I am installing a holding tank in my Cat 30. I want a simple indication ( single light ) of a full tank. Can you recommend a simple, reliable high level switch for a holding tank? Thanks Don Magdall

Accu-gauge

Get one of these, works like a charm. Not that expensive either and easy to install. I think you can buy it on this site. Roc

SeaLand Tankwatch I...BUT--

I've never seen any point in having a gauge that only lets you know you should have pumped out before you left the marina...and unless you regularly inspect visually to how full the tank is getting, that's what usually happens if you have a gauge that only lets you know when the tank is full. If you have to make regular visual inspections anyway, why bother to spend the $50--which is about the price of the TW I? The AcuGage someone else mentioned is the best on the market. Nothing goes inside the tank--so there's no sender to clog and fail. Instead, wires in adhesive-backed foil strips go on opposing sides of the outside of the tank...they give you an infinite reading of the contents level by measuring the resistance between the wires. It only draws miliamps, but if even that's more than you want all the time, you can turn it on when you want to check the level in the tank. And, you can put up to 4 tanks on the same read-out panel. Cost, especially compared to the "multi-level" Sealand guages, is very inexpensive--only a little more than twice what you'd pay for something I consider barely one step away from useless. The mfr is Snake River Electronics...You can check out all the specs on their website at http://www.snake-river.org And you can buy it from the online store here.

for metal tanks?

Is it true that they now have an external sensor that works on metal tanks? Thanks.

It's true, George..but--

The metal tank version has an internal sender. Check it out on their website at http://www.snake-river.org.

I saw that one but...

someone on the forum had mentioned one that reads externally, and I couldn't find it. Now I know why (it doesn't exist, I guess). Is their internal sensor less likely to gum up and stick than Wema's? Thanks.

Metal Tank Sensor

Our probe for metal tanks is not like no other probe. It is a sealed 3/4" PVC. It sends a signal through the pvc and measures the level. There is no way for it to clog. The electronics are on top of the PVC outside of the tank. There is also one for Diesel. Our regular unit for plastic tanks mounts on the outside of the tank. We have been manufacturing our outside unit for over 19 years for the RV industry. We ONLY build monitoring systems. This is our main business. you can purchase either type unit here at HOW. Dennis

High Level Switch

Just as the name implies. SWITCH. Anything inside of the tank with a switch, WILL foul in time. The Accugage will not foil. It has a proven 18+ year track record. It can be purchased here from HOW Dennis Ferriello Snake River Electronics

Thanks Peggie

We have a one tank model, a model that does up to four tanks in LED and LCD and a model that does up to 8 tanks in LCD. The foil goes on the same side of the tank 2 to 4 inches apart. If you were to purchase 4 tanks with the unit Peggie talked about you would spend $800.00. Our unit is only $249.95 for 4 tanks in an LCD Digital readout. Our you can read up to 4 tanks in an LED model for $159.95. Check out our site, www.snake-river.org and you can purchase one from this site. Dennis Ferriello Snake River Electronics
