This weekends project is to finally get rid of the hose from the holding tank to the macerator that has permeated and is stinking out the aft cabin. :( BTW Peggie, the Saran wrap did help somewhat, but I could not get it on all of the hose because of access, but thanks for the tip. I've done all kinds of plumbing at our house, but this marine plumbing is all new to me. I intend to remove the hose and macerator completely and plug the tank outlet permanately, as this boat will never see open water where it can be used. What type of fitting do I use in the tank, PVC, ABS or ??? and what do I use to seal the fitting, teflon tape or some type of adhesive??? We have a 2005 Hunter33 with a poly? tank of some sort.

I think

I think where the hose go's into the tank you can just put a PVC type plug with teflon tap and hold onto the macerator to sell who may need one. Nick

Nick is right...

A PVC or ABS--doesn't matter which--threaded plug, which you can get from any hardware store, should seal the fitting. If it leaks, use more teflon tape.

thanks

I thought this might be the way to go, but with "marine" installations you never know. Just trying to do it right. ;)

mission accomplished

Thanks Peggie for all your help. Took out the hose ( after much flushing) and the macerator.... and the smell is gone !!!! For now I've put in a plug into the hose to the thru-hull and double clamped it. Should I do anything further or is it ok to leave it like this.
