We just removed a leaky aluminum tank from our Hunter 40.5, and have ordered a custom made poly tank. The manufacturer said many people buy brass fittings for the tank, but they have been hard to find. We think the PVC fittings on our old aluminum one were cracked. Anyone have experience with either? (I have only tried hardware stores and LOWES, I bet some of you will tell me West Marine sells the brass ones for an arm and a leg).... Thanks for the help!

Check out...

the link below for PVC hose fittings at the bottom of the page. The main one that is worth 10 times it's weight in gold is the #341513. It let's you connect your hose to it first, where you have room to work on it, and then glue it inside the socket of any 1 1/2" fitting you have used with your tank. I did the retrofit on my 35.5 and used a 90 degree threaded 1 side/other side w/socket for inlet on top and a straight threaded 1 sided/other side w/socket for outlet on bottom. Both those fittings can come from hardware store. The #341513 fitting is a lifesaver. You do not need/want brass.
