That, my friend, is one from an age that has passed. I expect to hear that someday while cruising. I enjoyed the sideshow, too. :yeah:

Please don't tell me you punched the rolls, too. That would be just way too over-the-top genius!

very nice work! did you machine the mechanism or buy it? I want one, I can go cruising with that. Just have the little girl with the smile dress up and go to any bussy area, put out a hat and watch the money roll in! very nice, can you get new rolls of music for it?

Hi Marc,
I had just seen a piece on NHPTV about two guys in Vermont that restore mechanical player pianos. Very interesting segment on nickelodeons.
The player piano I've seen recently was at the Eagles Nest, summer island home of Admiral Perry in Harpswell Maine. He had this piano on his boat, S.S. Roosevelt, to the North Pole for entertainment and exercise. The Park Ranger directed us to a mooring and then during our self-guided tour she played several selections on the piano. The rolls were all original and the piano well tuned. http://www.pearyeagleisland.org/default.htm
The other place for nickelodeons is Clark's Trading Post Museum in northern NH. http://www.clarkstradingpost.com/index.php

I machined every part except the screws. The bellows are made out of blackout cloth and I have a mountain of sawdust from building the pipes. I follow the build plans of John Smith, from England. The rolls are from Melvyn Wright also from England.
