In process of purchasing a boat. Attempting to verify a Hull Identification Number. According to O'Day rigging instructions, first 3 digits indicate manufacturer, e.g. XDY, the next digit indicates the boat model, followed by 4 digit hull number, and last 4 digits indicate the year and month built.
Can anyone verify what model "C" indicates? I believe it is an O'Day 19.
Can anyone indicate what manufacture date code "M82A" indicates?

Does anyone know if there is a data base of O'Day boat HINs?
Thanks

D&R Marine used to have a great "HIN Key" posted on a sister site, but that other site faded away. Anyway, XDYCxxxxM82A, with xxxx being replaced by the numbers appearing on your boat's HIN would mean:
XDY = O'DAY
C = 19
xxxx = Class# (sometimes called "hull#" and it indicates how many of that class have been built, in other words, my old Widgeon was #1791 meaning she was the 1791st Widgeon built.
M82 = 1982 Model Year (August 1981 to July 1982)
A = 1st month of the model year (for your boat, that would be August 1981

So, you have a 1982 O'DAY 19 built in August 1981.

Thank you. Cures my supposition that it was built in January of 1982. This should also help correct an incorrect title document. Thanks for the response and good info.
