just a thought about protecting my newly painted haul from dock rash. While picking up new marine batteries at Walmart I came across a new item large 3 1/2" diameter pool noodles about 4' long.
I thought they may make a cheap dock edging. Using some old sheet line pass it through the hole in the middle and nail to the dock Horizontal or vertical. Hang it like a fender.
They are colorful , UV resistant, cheap less than $1 per foot and plentiful!!!
What do you think?

Over time, I picked up 4 fenders from the dumpsters. Different sizes but who cares. Pump them back up, clean and mounted them along the slip.

I don't need to hang fenders coming back to our slip.

I use the pool noodles inside my house garage so that when I park my car it prevents the wall from the bumper damaging it.

Pool noodles will eventually break apart and crumble into the water littering up the place.

You want Hillbilly? I like the idea of dumpster-diving to find others discarded fenders and pfd cushions that you can use as dock protection. I usually find lobster/crab trap markers washed up on shore here and there.

They are no UV resistant. I have one strapped to the aft deck of my 14' Phanton to protect the deck when I lower the mast. The UV does a number on it.

Shh... Tire cleaner does great job cleaning old fenders. If it is Taylor, you can replace them for free.

Ran across these guys at a boat show. The Admiral wishes she had seen them before she put all this work into the wings on our WB 8 foot dinghy.

The noodle isn't UV resistant but the cover is.

What's this about free Taylor replacements ? Is there some kind of lifetime warranty ?

Yup, although technically I think you are supposed to be the original owner. Obviously an honor system.

I threaded pool noodles through my mooring pendants for several years. It seemed to prevent the boat from rubbing up against the mooring when the air is real still and it kept lines afloat for returning to the mooring. They would last the season, easily, but that's in clean fresh water.

Regarding Taylor fenders

They will replace them if they blow out but not if they are punctured.

I am currently doing the same thing with my mooring pendants. Also on fresh water, mine are still in good shape for season too. Though, they are so cheap I wouldn't mind replacing them every year or two. You can see them in my avatar pic if you look hard enough.

Racoons like pool noodles. You may find bite size pieces all over your dock and boat one morning. A few people at our club found that out the hard way.
I think the racoons use it as nest material. or just to spruce up the old hole.
