Awhile ago I mentioned in a post that I designed and built a high tech low cost shore power cord hanger that keeps the cord off the deck where gunk can gather. I just finished writing the article in the "Boat Info" section of this site along with ample photos and once it is published in the next few days I will post it. No doubt here that all will be moved to speechless accolades, roars of applause, standing ovations and a chorus of hangers on over such a simple, but low cost manufacturing process; he, he, he. Just whetting the appetite, so to speak.

If it doesn't stain or abrade the white plastic coating on the lifelines, I'm in. (And yes, I know... but my wife prefers them over raw stainless so meticulous inspection and replacement when necessary rules the boat).

My cord cover has attached Velcro straps to attach to life lines

This cover is 3 years now and they still are ok. Last cover they were shot after 5 but so was the cover........

Hi Greg, our site webmaster will review and publish the article in good time. Be patient, my friend. As happens to a good vintage red wine, time in the barrel produces the best result. I hear he is very busy with this and that. :deadhorse:

Cord without a cover are horrible after some time in the sun

Shore power cords exposed to the elements around here seem almost impervious to degradation. They do get stiff in the cold weather, as do I. Otherwise, they seem to hold up quite well. Keeping them off the deck helps to keep them clean from an occasional rain wash as well as a cleaner deck; the main purpose of a hanger.

You could use something like Plasti Dip on the hooks before you bend them. It has some UV resistance too.
I use plastic hooks sized for cable on one end and railing on the other. They also hook to my toerail.

I found a couple of pieces of line in my line bag, and just tied the cord up to the life line with an overhand knot. Has worked well. No special effort to find hooks on the road or buy plastic that can devour our oceans.

I do like the way @Terry Cox has repurposed a discarded rubber into safety hooks... I think @Stu Jackson had an idea. Re-purpose big safety pins... I do not think he was stealing them from babies diapers, though they looked awful similar the ones Mom used for my younger siblings...
