Can anyone suggest a place to look for either a slip or mooring in the Southeastern Massachusetts area? I recently stored my boat at my local marina as I understood being a year-round customer would give me priority in obtaining a slip. My brother stores his boat in the same place and has already been given a slip assignment, looks like I'm out. I prefer my home port, however I would be willing to place my boat anywhere in S.E. Mass. Any leads appreciated.

Homeport advantage

Hull has one obvious advantage over Scisitashusit Bay -- it's a helluva lot easier to fit the hailing port name on your transom. Pete s/v Crossroads (ODay 322) Little Silver, NJ

No slip vacancies in L.A.......

I guess things are tight all over the place. There are NO slips available in Marina del Rey (Los Angeles) unless you go in person to the dock with a picture of your boat, a copy of your insurance policy and a pound of twenties for the bribe that puts you at the top of the list. Anyone know anything different???

Bribe?

I don't mean to sound naive, nor do I want to seem nafarious, however, do marinas take bribes? And by the way, though I believe what you're saying about space in LA/Marina Del Rey, it's hard for me to believe the space limit out there. I've been to MDR and it's amazing for a New Englander to see such capacity. My marina has 100 spaces!

Try These...

Onset, Wareham, Mattapoisett. All are on Buszzard's Bay west side. Last year there was another guy from Plymouth who was trying, also. Have you talked to your marina office? Geez! All these years living in your area and I've never heard of Scisitashusit Bay! *pop

Bribes: In my experience...

ANYONE can be bought. You just have to figure out the right button to push. I, personally, have schmoozed my way into a slip or onto a mooring on a couple of occassions. The best thing to do is to maintain contact with a couple of marinas. Most will accomodate you if someone does not get their payment in on time. Also, you can get on waiting lists at as many marinas as possible and constantly stay on top of them. Marinas LOVE customers who pay IMMEDIATELY and look favorably upon people waving a wad of cash. Cheers, Bob

on all the waiting lists.....

No slips in Marina del Rey

The problem in MDR is that most of the marinas are being re-built. As each one closes, everyone is scrambling for space. This has caused the tight supply.
