Posted here because I cannot find "Site Talk" here on my tablet. Also cannot find "New Posts" on the app. Generally just curious how the SBO app came to be. Is it a major coding effort? I see that some websites revert automatically to an app, Hotmail being one. SBO does not and I think that I prefer the website to the app. It does work differently on Android compared to Windows though. Many websites also have app equivalents and I am still comparing. One nice app feature is that multiple pictures in a post can be seen in one window, no closing and reopening. And then being able to zoom them is nice. Photos fill the entire screen and are crystal clear. But if you like to post this touch keyboard is the pits. Give me a keyboard every time. I have the Acer and only Wi-Fi so no charting app. It was a gift so I can't complain about the lack of 4G.

P.S. now I am on the website where I have access to the tabs at the top. Much better. Do we need a tablet version as well as a cellphone version?

Ed If you have a smartphone such as iPhone or Android, you can enable "personal HotSpot" and have the tablet connected to it via WiFi. The lack of 4G is by design as most people don't want to have a separate data plan with those greedy carrier.

Oh, that's right, a tether without the wire. Will have to test that. Thanx for the reminder.

Hi Ed, the app is licensed, we didn't develop it. I am quite sure it was a pretty hefty piece of work to build it. It's the same app used by Cruisers Forum and many other vBulletin sites.

I need to put Site Talk on there, but the new posts feature won't run on it because it's custom programming we did and not part of the OEM forum software.

I only know it from the iPhone point of view, where it flashes an alert when you try to hit the forums from iPhone/iPad's safari web browser. It won't automatically redirect, though, which I like.

Hotspots

When we first got our Android with Verizon Hotspots were free and loved it using 2 laptops on our boat at the same time but they took it away and now want $20 or $30 dollars more per month,I tried rooting but they the geeks couldn't get our Thunderbolt to get free tethering.
Bummer we were spoiled but I think the tethering can be purchased by the month so maybe our next long cruise hope to get it per month.

That's some good skinny Nick. After I posted I messed with a downloaded hotspot app for a bit. Tablet could see it but would not connect even though I had the right password. And you are saying even by rooting it won't work. I have a Droid Global 2 with Verizon.
