I'll answer that one...

Because we're archiving all the discussions, and we're a browser-based bulletin board, we want to keep the discussions on the site as much as possible. making it easier for valuable information to exchanged via email, where others will never be able to share it, defeats the purpose. We are sorry for the occasional inconvenience this causes, but I hope you understand it is for the good of all.
