Hey Greg, The advice on Commings was great. I called and got a much more better price- $600. As for Ray Hubbard, where can I go on the internet to find out more info about it. The maps I've seen show it to be good sized; but there are a couple of bridges that seem to hinder it a little. Also, are there any good anchorages to sleep "on the hook"? Mark

I'm not 100% sure on that yet. I saw your post after I got my info. I think it's for the paint and the primer; but my new Hunter supposedly has a 5 year blister warranty already. I may still need to check on the barrier coat thing.

Cuts it in half more like! Seriously, it sort of divides the lake into fishing, motoring, sking and skidodoing on one side and sailing on the other. The sail side has an avg depth of 40' which is good enough. The other side is well, I think you can walk across in some places. We do have a couple of fairly park like coves on the sail side and if all else fails, there's my backyard (Chandlers Landing). There's not much on the internet we're trying to keep a good thing quiet. As far as barrier coats go, get it. It's one of those pay me now or pay me a lot more later. I've got 7 coats on my 23 but we keep it in a slip. Greg

Mark: I guess having the 5 year blister warranty is good buy you know when you pull that boat on the 61st month and there they are. Good ol' Mark is gonna say "ya know Greg and Steve were right, I shoulda had the barrier coat done". With that said, there is still no guarantee that you will NOT get blisters but at least you can say that you did everything that could be done to prevent them. I must assume that this blister thing is getting better with the new boats. My H'31 is a 1985 model and we have not had them. We are in an area where we go from fresh to brackish to salt water from time to time. We hear so many different stories but I can tell you there are plenty of of boats in the fresh water that get them too and some have had them multiple times. If they are bad enough it can ruin your day. Had a friend with a Catalina 30 that spent about $8k on a blister job. So spending a little more now even if it means a second mortgage on the house may be worth it in the long run.

Mark, Now that you've got a reasonable estimate, call The Rig Shop in Rowlette. This guy is VERY good and will charge $600 or less. He's also slow. A perfectionist. Many around here in the go-fast crowd swear by him. And, ta-da, he actually likes Hunters. Sometimes you can inspect about half the hot boats in the Dallas area because they're on his lot. All this to get to the good stuff. He rigs a lot of the race boats around here. Some of these guys tear off their rigging every year and re-rig. Can't be seen with last years stuff I guess. The Rig Shop piles all the (last year's-yuk!) removed rigging and line in there office and you can dig through the pile. Buy any you like at 50% or less. Cool or what? Greg
