Fred, I think it was you who said that you had your bomar hatches powercoated. Anyway, I found someone to do it, all I have to do is remove the gasket & sealant(sp? and any other lose parts. My question to you is did you have to take the the knobs off? If so, how did you get those little pins out and not lose the spring mechanism? The riser arms came off pretty easily. Did you have to take the hatches apart where they hinge or were they powdercoated attached?

Hey, Tammy! WhaaaaasUp?

I took mine down to bare castings. What I suggest that you do is remove a hatch and take it to the shop and ask them how much prep they want you to do. It just depends on the shop and the market they cater too. In my town there's only one and I didn't ask them. I prepped the casting for paint BY ME! What a bitch. The shop would have done a lot of the prep work for me and a lot easier too. Ya know, you could have each of your hatches coated a different color! Cool huh?---Nah. As far as disassembly, mine were nearly shot. The roll pins were so corroded that I had to drill them out. That meant a 2 foot long drill bit depending on the pin location. After the new pins were installed a couple of them had to be held in place using non-conventional means. (a center punch) But a touch of epoxy would work too. Tammy don't forget the camera. This is fun stuff! Get the before and after shots and let us see.

Thanks

I won't forget the camera. We glued the hull liner on last week. We used a beige indoor/outdoor carpeting and it really looks pretty good. Next up is to have to get the hatches powdercoated and the tinted lexan installed, then get the new portlights installed and paint the deck. We are going to take the pedestal to Edson in New Bedford MA for a rehab.
