Dave, to further complicate this. I've already run a bead of silicone along the whole length of the teak strip on the hatch cover plus I cover the whole hatch with a snap down canvas cover plus I have a tarp tented over the hatch. The floor is dry when we look in the cabin. Its only the seats on the port side that are wet. I was thinking that the joint was not sealed tightly where the top part of the boat meets the bottom and the water is running inside and coming out the bottom of the teak cover onto the bench. If the water was running along the hatch top and since my boat has a slight list to port due to the batteries being on that side could the water run along the top and down that fibreglass wall between the head and the main cabin??? Thanks for your help Paul H S/V Linda Belle 95 H26

Same problem

Hey Paul I have the same problem on my 94' h26. All last year whenever it rained I had water under the port seats. Never did research it because it doesn't rain much in Nebraska anymore, but I did reseal the teak strip when I rebuilt the sliding hatch and that didn't seem to help. I'll watch for a response. Just wanted to let you know your not the only one.

Step two

Step two. Take a water hose and hose the windows port side very hard for a few minutes. It could be coming from there. Is there an opening port on your port side? Crazy Dave

Flange

Paul, I could be mistaken but I think the flange between the top and bottom half of the boat is turned outward. If this is true I don't think you're getting a leak there from rain water. As you mentioned, since the boat lists slightly to port it could be coming in at the top somewhere and running along the headliner to the wall. If it were me, I'd start with rebedding the stanchion and the jib sheet block. You might also check the outlet for the mast head light but I think this is further forward. How about the snaps for your cover, are they all caulked as well? You could also check the winch from below via the access panel beneath it. Good luck, Jim

Port Opening-Dave

Dave, the port hole for the head is behind this liner. Is it possible that the port hole needs to be removed and reseated? Paul H S/v Linda Belle 95 H26

Paul

Leave your email and I will contact you how to do the leaf blow trick. If I contact you by email, then the deal is you cannot reveal who or where I am out of respect for the forum. Ok? Crazy Daveeie King Kong Dong

Leaf blower trick?

Do you use electric? I think a gas blower would fill the cabin with exhaust fumes. Fair winds... Tom

You're Supposed To Observe..

... for bubbles on the OUTSIDE of the boat, Tom. Of course, in Crazy Dave's case, it may not make any difference anymore <smile> Rick D.

Ok Rick

Fumes are very minimal if using a gas weed eater and blower. But the fact is the cabin is sealed off so no gas fumes of any nature is getting into the cabin. What you are doing is forcing air into the cabin pressurizing it to force air out through the leak areas. This is the best way to find leaks and to fix them. I do not recommend taking items off at randam to reseal unless you determine it is leaking. An old saying is if it aint broke don't fix it. As for as being mentally incompetent, Rick is right that I lost my marbles a long time ago but in reality, I know my boats. Rick, I got one up on you. I can say I personally slammed a door into a woman's chest knocking her down on her behunkus. I opened up the door and said OH Shit! As Paul Harvey would say, Now for the rest of the Story. That lady was Liz Taylor the one and only. Crazy Dave Condon

THE Liz Taylor!?

I was only kidding about the fumes. Have done that to find leaks myself. Works really well, and you are so right about not randomly pulling off parts! Rick D.

Leaf Blower Trick

Dave, My email address is phh1945@sigecom.net. I may have a problem doing this as I have at least three vents to the outside. One is just a scoop vent and the others are solar powered exhausts. I suppose I could just shove rags up into the openings. Paul H S/V Linda Belle 95 H26
