Did you get your thermostat working correctly? Are you pressing the "Hold" button after you set the temp? If you don't the AC will shut off after it reaches the temp you set. I thought about this late Sunday night. We bailed early Monday morning after hearing the forecast for deadly killer T-storms with 1.5inch hail and 60+mph winds. Of course it turned out to be a perfect day.
