I'm not a Herreshoff expert, but the name is unavoidable here, and every sailor in RI knows the name well. I don't think that Nathaniel dealt a lot with cruisers, but years ago a guy at the yacht club had a custom designed 42' fiberglass cruiser that was purposely designed with a strong Herreshoff influence. If it had been a college report, it would have been a candidate for plagerism. The mast was raked back to the point that it looked damaged. I have no idea what it cost, but it hardly mattered to this guy. Quite a boat, but it was a much better racer than a cruiser, and the Herreshoff touch was somehow lost in the blue & white gel coat. Anyhow, Others may have done this, and I know the museum is happy to help.Just a thought - I've met a nephew of Nathaniel at a place called Jamestown Distributors in Bristol RI (a great marine supply that caters to do-it-yourselfers). They all seem to know him, and he'll talk your ear off. If you're the bold type, give them a call - they might hook you up. Hey, it couln't hurt. Sorry, I'm at a remote & don't have the #.Good Luck.
