I have been in touch with John Fisher, another Oday owner, and we are trying to identify paint colors for the 272 and 272LE. I did some structural work on my rudder before last season and painted it with Interlux Urethane Plus. Wonderful paint, makes the rudder look like new, but it's the wrong damned color. I tried Off-white after I took the Interlux samples to the boat and made my best guess for a match. It's too light. Needs to be more of a cream color. Can anyone tell us what brand and color of paint you have used that provides a close match to the original gelcoat finish on these models? I want to repaint again this spring, but don't want to plunk down $50/qt. for the wrong color again. Tom

Great Question ... any help on that Gray, too?

as if gray is any kind of standard.

Paint or Gel

Were you dealing with paint or possibly the original finish? I had a few cosmetic repairs (dinks) to make on my 34 and was having trouble matching the color. After a few attempts to match, I contacted Rudy. It turned out that he still had a quanity of the original creme colored gel-coat. He sent me a quart and it matched perfectly. Didn't cost fifty dollars either.

This time I'm talkin' paint

I went round and round last winter as to whether to use paint or gelcoat and decided to use paint because I thought it would be easier. Maybe it is, maybe it isn't, but I want to use paint again to repaint the rudder and am looking for a closer match to the existing gelcoat color of the hull and topsides. Another 272 owner is looking for paint to touch up some spidering repairs and dings in the hull of his 272LE. The standard 272 is a cream or buff color. The LE is a grey color. We would like some recommendations for a standard paint color in any quality brand ( last time I used Interlux Urethane Plus, but am not locked into a brand) which will stand up to the usual results of weathering, etc. Tom
