Help with some Volvo parts

Hello all,

In the process of the eventful overhaul of our combi unit, I had to
cut the shaft in order to get it off to replace the stern bearing and
stuffing box. It's definitely been unpleasant.

Anyway, I am now in the search for two Volvo parts, so I can get our
Vega back in the water so we are no longer homeless.

I am looking for Volvo part #3876421 (the clamp nut that clamps the
shaft to the coupling that goes on the engine, #13 on the combi
instructions diagram) and #3876380 (the lock rings that correspond to
above, #14 on combi diagram).

Please let me know quickly if you have any tips or input on how to get
these.

Hi Cedric

Cutting the shaft is the last resort. I only ever had to do that once
and that was because it was bent and no use. You will now have to get a
new shaft as well and these are not a standard size or readily
available.

I may be able to help with the clamp ring but the clamp washers are
another matter. There are two sets for the shaft and two sets for the
control tube.

Your best bet is to try and contact someone who has changed engines,
before they throw the bits away. Any offers from anyone in USA or CAnada
for Cedric....

Cheers

Hi Cedric;

I almost fainted when I read you cut the shaft!. Did you
cut the sleeve as well? I hope not. I'm not familiar with
your engine, but it might be the best solution to get a
transmission and a 25mm shaft (readily available) with a
fixed prop. That way you can utilize the existing stern
bearing and the stuffing box. Good luck!
