Last week while out sailing, several large rocks ran right out in front of me and hit my keel. Now I need to have the keel dropped and re-bedded (there is a 1/16" gap in some parts of the keel to stub seam and the boat is taking on about 1/2 gallon of water ever 5 minutes or so). My Marina is having trouble determining the number and location of the keel bolts. Hunter has apparently lost the prints.

I think there is a total of five: two under the aft companion way grate, one under the small wooden floor access panel near the head door, one under the plastic access fitting under the forward most dinette seat (opposite the one under the small wooden access panel), and the final one under the post hole fitting for the dinette table.

Can anyone confirm this?

I have a H31 and there are 5 bolts that I know of...2 under an opening just before the head and 3 under the floorboard just below the companionway entrance by the galley. For the record, these are the 5 I have seen so far. Good luck!

Wow. MalibuC has to have some other layout than my 85. I do not see 3 bolts aft. Anyone else have any expierence with this at all? Am I the only guy to ever have to have a keel rebedded on an H31?

I agree with Malibu about the location of the keel bolts. Check the inspection opening just forward of your main bilge and the grate area aft of the bilge.

Then there has to be 2 different layouts. In the aft grate area there are definately only 2 keel bolts that i can see, not 3.

I have the whole floor out of my 84 31 as we speak for a total restoration. There are 2 bolts forward just aft of the compression post and 3 bolts at the base of the companion way stairs. Two side by side forward and one in a trough just ahead of the engine. I can send pictures in a few days if that helps. Rebeding could be an interesting job. Did your interior pan crack around the bolts? On my boat there is a very large amount of what I believe is adhesive that attaches the interior pan to the hull all around the keel bolts. Let me know if you would like pictures of the underfloor.

I would like to see pictures. I would like to see below the floor. I am having issues with wood. I would like to replace but a little hesitant.
