I bought a 1986 272LE last fall and it is stored 1300 miles away in Mexico. I am going down there this spring and wanted to prepare for some maintenance. I was wondering if an owner with their boat a little closer could check their boat for: 1)the fuel/water separator. I recall mine is all metal (no clear bulb). If you have a plain brass one, does it have a replacible filter? 2) Sea water strainer: I don't recall that my boat has one--is this typical? Any info is much appreciated.

Re Filters ...

"Seven" #662 1989 had a bronze fuel filter [with replaceable filters] that I replaced with a Racor ... I also added a shut off just before the filter and replaced the electric fuel pump after the filter at the same time ... a Universal M12 is the engine. I like the ability to see if there is some water in the clear bowl. And didn't think much of a 12 year old electric fuel pump although it seemed to be working OK ... is now the spare. I used the Racor size recommended but for the few extra dollars I would kick it up one grade ... ... the raw water strainer is directly under the galley sink with a clear plastic exterior which was OK ... I also replaced the water pump and the new one is a better design. Vic Seven
