I'm Simmered

I'm simmered, I'm simmered! Hope everyone is enjoying their summer on their boats with their stoves. Now, how about GPS's? Can we get a good argument going about those? I think Garmin are crap! Ha HA HA..... Happy Sailing Ron/KA5HZV

GPS?

Ron....GPS? Does that stand for GAS PROVES SUPERIOR? Just kidding.. I understand how a person can feel when he cooks up an idea and he feels it is really hot. I am going now to go bake some bread in a cast iron skillet on my Origo stove. Care to come aboard and break it with me? I would offer you wine but I am afraid you would reject it. After all, there is ALCOHOL in it! All in good humor... fair winds... Chris

Actually Alcohol is hotter than SOME propane.

FYI: I was just looking at Propane stoves. They have burners that are RATED at 5000

Great discussion!! Thanx for all your input.....

I'll let you all know how I make out. We are going to plan a alcohol cooked meal this weekend. As far as the bread recipe goes, I can't see my 8,7,and 3 year old kneading the dough on our table Ha! Ha!

Ron, Alan et al.

Ron: You ALSO have a saint that you live with. I know a good wife is hard to find. Actually I was suprised to find the statistics regarding the propane vs. alcohol. Not an argument just a good discussion. Alan: Now you may not be able to envision your childred kneading bread aboard YOUR boat but I can. Enjoy your ORIGO and think about all that money you have saved. Buy your wife something nice with the money WE saved you. If you run over budget on the gift you can just charge it to Ron.

Toast

Alan, tell your kids that, after producing some iron skillet bread, you can use one of those funny little racks that makes Origo Toast! Actually, it is pretty good, but you have never seen so many crumbs....Mmmmmmmmmm. Ron, my set-up is an Origo two burner stove, with microwave strapped beneath, all on gimbals, and a propane BBQ /oven outside with a big, fixed tank. For my most delectable projects, I have all these devices in play. Each has its advantages....that said, I do love my Origo. And how many boats have a gimballed microwave? But, right now I am going to get my skillet.....

Easy booat bread

Hello All: I bake bread every trip, this is what I do. Buy the three loaf frozen bread at your grocers. Follow directions for raising. I let raise in 12' covered pan. When ready to cook you will need two frying pans, one 10" and one 12"and cover. Grease the twelve and put bread dough and punch down so it covers bottom. Set stove burner on lowest flame, place 10" on stove and 12" on top of it then cover. Check bottom of bread after about 15 ,min. Looking for light brown color, then turn over and another 5 min. Works every time and nothing smells better. Have traded fresh bread for fish, steak, lobster etc. Try it. Good luck red

Buttered toast

My mom always made the best toast. Butter both sides of the bread (you know you're going to butter it anyway!)

Good Source for Origo's?

Hi Guys - No more fuel to the fire, just a question. My old alchohol stove is shot. Looking for a relatively inexpensive replacement, as I usually barbeque on the grill (rail). So, any ideas? I really only plan on using it for coffee and the occasional side that doesn't work well on the grill. Thanks in Advance! Rob

They have several models.

Rob: They have several models, drop in (cut a hole in a counter), top mounted, gimballed and a stove/oven combo. I think that they also have some electric/alcohol models. If you find the model you want you can look on ebay or some of the other auction sites. Also some of the used boat shops like Doc Freemans in Seattle may have a used one.

Heated Up? Heated Up? Let me tell you something...

You're absolutely right! It's a problem I've learned to live with! Ron/KA5HZV

Hey Ron...:)

You wouldn't happen to be related to the guy who wanted to know if he could solve odor problems on his boat by installing a device to burn off the methane, would you?
