I was just given a Oday Daysailer. It has set in my barn for over 10 years because I was storing it for a guy that left it here unused. It got covered with bird droppings and had a raccoon living in it at one point in time. When I called him to come get his boat he told me to keep it. I power washed it today and am cleaning the lines and storage bags. Now that I own the thing the next important step is to find out how to set it up for sailing. Anyone know where the is a manual for this boat or can tell me how to rig it I would be very appreciative. The boat is in good shape once the "stuff" was cleaned out of it. I can use all the help I can get. I've alwasy wanted to have a sailboat. I'm a disabled 57 year old farmer and boat ain't my area of expertise. If you can give me an idea where all the wires and hooks go please email me at FarmAnimal@aol.com.

We Don't Mind Typos, Dont Worry About It

I have a buddy in Columbus who is between boats right now. He just came back from Iraq a couple of weeks ago and I bet he would love to help you figure the thing out in exchange for the boat ride. Where do you live?

Most of us don't mind or care

although there is a poster who adds nothing to content but is very quick to correct usage, spelling etc. You'll see him soon. English major rather than a sailor.

Update of the newbies attempt to sail the world...

I have the mast installed and the new sails in the bags. The problem is there seems to be more lines than places to attach them. Is there any place online that has a schematic of the riggins of a Daysailor.

Thanks for the offers to help.

I'm abotu 25 miles southwest of Columbus. I'm only 5 miles from Deer Creek State Park. it's a 16oo lake that might be a fun place to learn to use this fine boat. I can't get into too much trouble there..... probably. John

Columbus Ohio Daysailer Fleet

Hi John I'm the fleet captain of Daysailer Fleet 98 which is located on the far side of Columbus from you. We sail out of Leatherlips YC on O'Shaugnessy Res. near Dublin. We are recognized by the National Daysailer Association. We usually gather on Friday Nights at the club for sailing and a pot-luck. You'd be welcome to join us any time. If you're ambitious you can bring your boat, or just join us to see how ours are set up. If you want more information, send me an email address or a phone number to jpclowes@hotmail.com and I will get back to you. (Put daysailer or something in the subject line so I can pick it out of my junk mail folder, where it will go.) Another site you can try for information is www.daysailer.org. this is the National Class association. For directions to our club you can try www.leatherlips.com J.P. Clowes

too bad it took him ten years to give ya the boat

or I'd be askin you questions now...Wish someone would just give me their boat, how lucky can a guy get..You can always try the archives to see how others have rigged their boats, maybe not that same boat as yours, but at least it's a reference for now. Good Luck. And as for spelling.. who cares.. this is the web, not the board room....get out there and sail...
