I have had my 25ft catalina for 4 months & am currently on my way down the ICW to florida. I wondered if anyone could tell me if it's normal for the swing keel to "knock" on the hull when the current is coming at you from port or starbord when it is both raised or down? I recently hauled her out before I set off to paint the hull and could see no problems at the time. Any advice would be appreciated

Noise

I have a 79' Catalina 25' which had the same problem. I ordered a kit from Catalina Direct which solved the problem. It was explained to me that this was simply a design flaw in these boats. They had too much play. The boat needs to be out of the water to install the kit which goes for about $35.00. I was worth it.

swing keel resource

The Catalina 25/250 website has a tech tips section that covers a retrofit aid to eliminate knocking of the swing keel, also the Catalina direct C25 owners manual/catalog, about ten bucks and worth every penny, has products to help. Fair winds, ron c25 Orion #2343 sr sk in sw fla

I would also like to metion catalina direct has outstanding service and will guide you through everthing, this in an age where most businesses are just concerned about money rather the customer satisfication. I installed the kit in the begining of the spring and it helped lots.
