kinda need some quick help....went to install my new Gori today and found the end of the shaft needs to be cut. It’s a 1” Aquamet and the cut does not effect the threads. It’s basically the nub aft of the threads.
I need to this with the shaft installed and in need of some quick advice as I’m supposed to be launched early next week...thanks in advance!

Hack saw with a new blade will make quick work of it. Common practice and it's not difficult.

put the nut on before you cut the nub in case the threads get a little buggered.. after removing the nub, remove the nut to straighten any threads that might have been messed up..

Thanks for quick replies! Hack saw was my go to plan but I’ve been told it is not a good idea because it will take forever. So far I’ve been advised to use a grinder, angle grinder, belt sander and Drexel with carbide blades.
Threads won’t be an issue although I will put a nut on since well Murphy who certainly bit me in the ass today!

I had to do the same thing to get my Gori installed. The last 3/8" interfered with the propeller blade gears.

Had to do the same thing. Stainless is actually relatively soft for a metal. The issue is, if it heats up, it gets hard fast and then you'll struggle. Use some oil and your hacksaw will do the trick. You'll spend more time thinking about it than actually doing the work.

Good luck

Thanks....any suggestions on TPI for the blades? I’ve heard everything from 18 to 32

18 TPI will cut faster. 32 TPI is for thinner material.

I’ve had good luck using a sazall and a water spray bottle to keep it cool. Much easier if you have a helper to ru the spray bottle

Thanks all! A Porta Band did the trick in about 4 minutes....cuts very slow with no chattering. First experience with Lapping the new prop which didn’t come out like MS tutorial as I did close to 50 turns with more high/low spots than I expected but decided to stop.
