Has anyone added roller furling to a Legend 35? What furling system did you use? In anchor well or out? I bought one brand, won't fit in well, needs modification of anchor well door to fit above.
I may:confused:

Not sure if this helps but on my '95 35.5 there is a Hood furler mounted in the anchor well.

I replaced the original Hood below deck furler with a furlex model four years ago on my '88 Legend 35. It required an extension bar going from the attachment point on the boat to the base of the furler, above deck. No big deal. Of course your luff dimension will change, meaning a new headsail. I don't know how you're fixed for riggers in the lake you're on in Arkansas. email me via the owner directory for more info

I replaced my Hood with a Schaefer 2100 above the deck on my 89 a few years ago. It did, as Rick mentioned require a longer tang at the base which my local rigger obtained from, I beleive, Garhauer. I also redesigned of the anchor locker cover to allow the cover to open and not hit the bottom of the roller. What I did was to cut the cover back and install two hinges to allow the front section of the cover to hinge back prior to opening. I also had the jib recut at the top to fit the new measurment. If you would like a picture let me know via email the owners directory.

Thanks for your response...

Hugh: Thanks for your response, my '89 Legend 35, Neragin is on the same docks with Dan's boat. I have the Hood continuous loop line furling system that was originally installed on the 35's... Dan is able to "go to school" on my boat is need be.

He'll find a solution soon...

Dan: Contact the folks at Spin-tec. The units are sold on this website. Betsy Hamilton is one of the reps and she may be able to help you too. Do you plan on leaving the unit as a below deck system or are you willing to move it up?

Steve:Thanks for the response . Today I decided to make a tang and move everything above deck.I hope this will make it easier to install the Spin-Tec furler. I have been in touch with Betsy but have probably been asking the wrong questions. Thanks Dan

Dan: A picture is worth a thousand words. I suggest that you take a couple of shots of the existing setup and email them to her. George is the owner of the company and may need to add some technical expertise to this issue.

Roller furler

I replaced the Hood roller furler 4 years ago with a Harken Mk1 unit that fit below deck in the anchor locker. Had a new head stay made by WM and installed the whole rig with the help of one person in about 3 hours. Also my Quantum head sail fit just fine.
