Help replacing a sheave

I need to replace the sheaves in my genoa track blocks (Merriman) and also the deck organizer for main/jib leading back to cockpit. Since the price of new ones are very expensive, I'm hoping I can simply replace the sheaves as the rest of the stainless blocks are in great shape. Plus it would save me a bundle of cash. My question is: Is it okay to drill out the rivet pin to get the sheave out of the block? Or is there another way to accomplish this? And can I use a bolt and nut to secure the new sheave in place (on the blocks) or do I have to rivet them in place (as they are currently riveted in place)? Thanks in advance for your reply. Send them back to the OEM

I had problems a few years ago with my blocks-Schaefer I think they are- and they replaced the sheave, spring and it came back like new. Price was nomial.

Garhauer's are not expensive

Bob: Check out Garhauer Marine. Their deck organizers are NOT expensive and you can even get them with ball bearings. They come with a 10 yr warranty.

Careful

Just a possible caution. If you're pulling sheaves from your genoa cars, be careful about any ball or roller bearings that might be hidden by the flanges of the car. If the old sheaves had them, you'll probably want replacements with them too. There might not be any, but who knows? If you cut the bottom out of a shoe box and place it over/around the car it should keep most of the out of the water if there are any.
