Help pedstal steering back to tiller on Aquarius23

I have a 1972, 23' Aquarius 23 that I would like to convert back to orignal tiller steering configeration. Have seen the same steering on boats such as Ericson's. But don't have a photo or any info on the Aquarius 23. you may e-mail me direct as I'm a hurry to finish. woodysondra@adelhpia.net

Back to the tiller !!

The tiller for the A23 is different from most tillers and rudders. The tiller came up from the floor of the cockpit near the back. The tiller was in a plug that fitted into the cockpit floor and was held in place with a metal strap that bolted to either side of the tiller plug. The rudder then was below the plug and in the water. I hope this helps a bit. When you undid the strap, you could pull the plug and rudder into the cockpit to have nearly zero draft. It was a neat way to get the boat on or near the beach.
