I have to agree with Janet as well. The Catalina is one of the most forgiving of boats to sail and a lot of fun to boot. I would not go any larger than a 27 footer myself. Larger boats are intimidating to beginners and you may find that you won't sail as often as you would with a smaller and easier to handle boat.I also agree tha you should go slowly in purchasing you vessel. Get a good surveyor to go over the boat before you buy, the money spent is well worth it in the long run.
