I discovered a slow, seeping leak coming from the depth sounder transducer. Clearly, it needs to be rebedded this fall when I pull her out. In the meantime, is there any kind of gunk I can glom around it while it's still in the water? The seep is very slow, but whatever I use needs to dry quickly.

Seems to work pretty quick on ports. It is silicone-based and can be removed w/razor blade. You can get it in the Glues section of Home Depot. Good Luck! :)

Tighten

If you have a big nut on the transducer it may be possible to turn it oh so slightly, just enough to stop the leak. I have been able to do that on two boats and do the repair when pulled in the fall. Good luck.

Leak

Life Caulk, or Boat Life caulk, one of those is supposed to work under water. West maring has the stuff, and a small tube is inexpensive. But I would try to tighten the nut a little first. If you don't have a speed wheel in the transducer, and a solid glass hull just take it out, fill the hole, and install it inside the hull and just shoot through the glass. I have mine set up that way, and it just eliminates one more possible leak. I use the GPS for SOG, and don't worry about speed through the water. This works for me.

Use the Boat life caulk.

Last season I had a problem below the waterline. The stuff sets up under water and it really does work. Tom s/v GAIA
