Help Installing CDI Roller Furling

Has anyone had experience installing a CDI roller furling unit? I just ordered the FF7 for my Std. Cat 30. The manual claims you can install it in an hour over the existing headstay, but I am usually the guy who ends up with the exception. One area of concern is the size of the Cat 30 Headstay. Will the furler fit over it? I think it is 1/4" Thanks in advance!

Only easy!

Aloha, I have a Catalina 27 and I installed A CDI furling jib on my boat. The only problem that I had was that I had to change the headstay. It would not fit over a Norseman fitting. It took 3 days of hanging from the top of the mast to remove the pin in order to change the cable. But after that the CDI furling jib was very easy to install. It has worked really well. I really love having it.

It was a snap!

Installed my roller furling in about two hours. (un)fortunately the forestay hardware on my catalina (81) is whimpy enough to fit down the luff extrusion. which would have taken much longer if I would have had to cut the swaged end off & reattach it once passed through. Took her out & love the furler. Best money I've spent! Also bought a new headsail, a 150 with foam luff pad. I can now go from a 150 to a 110 and still hold fair sail shape. No more raising, lowering, changing out, repeat as necessary...

it wil work

it should do fine on the 1/4. you will have to install the norse fitting though. i had the luxury of lowering my mast to do it. one of the few times that i have enjoyed having my mast tabernacled. i went from a harken mark11 furler to the cdi and i have to say the comparrison is great. the cdi i can reef while on a reach and furl it in without heading into the wind. i have talked with the owner of the company and think it is a fine place to spend your money.
